JEE Advanced 2014 Exam - Notification, Important Dates, and Preparation Tips!

Students, who dream about becoming engineers and carve a niche for themselves in civil, electrical, electronics and many such fields, eye the very prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) in every sense. The dream of few students of becoming a part of the institute of such stature may soon meet its reality in May, 2014 as the date of exam for JEE Advanced 2014 is on the floor.



JEE Advanced: A Quick View & Important Dates


This exam, JEE Advanced 2014 is for those students who will be clearing the JEE Main, which is just few days away. The aspirants who would be clearing this very last examination will be eligible to get admissions to any of the 6 IITs and ISM Dhanbad.


The selection will encompass only those candidates who would be securing the top 1.5 Lakh ranks in the JEE Mains exam. So, altogether this exam is going to be even more crucial than IIT Mains as this would be the final ticket to the destined IITs or the well-known Indian School of Mines.

Right after the admissions, a time comes when students flock the college campus to know more about seat allocations and the merit lists that comes in parts or is set as per the ranking of each student.

It is for good that the examination authorities have publicized certain dates for the candidates, beforehand. These dates are related to the online disclosure of seat allocations at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd level.

1.      Method of Apply:


Right after the results of the JEE (Main) is declared, registration for the final, JEE(Advanced) commences. The process is done online and the mode of payment of fee is an e- challan, which is generated at the time of online registration. The candidates can visit nearest branch of State Bank of India and do away with the payment of fee.

The fee will be gender dependent for this exam and therefore, Rs. 2000 has been fixed for the male candidates and Rs. 1000 for the SC/ST/ PwD male candidates. There is no fee for the female candidates.



2.      Important Documents:

The candidates have to keep ready a stack of documents at the time of online registration. The mandatory documents are:
  •     Certificate reflecting the Date of Birth
  •     Class Xth certificate
  •     An image of the candidate’s signature in JPEG format
  •     Passport size photograph(JPEG format)
  •     The chosen language for question paper
  •     City/town chosen as examination center
  •     Certificate showing Category/Sub-Category
  •     Documents stating year of first attempt in JEE (Advanced), if applicable

3. Institutes Offering Admissions Other than IITs and ISM

There are some institutions that are offering admissions to the relevant courses by making use of the rank list of the JEE (Advanced) -2014. These institutes are Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Ratapur Chowk, Rae Bareli, UP, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) and Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Thiruvananthapuram.

Ticket to Final Destination:

The ticket of the voyage that can land you in the examination hall where the student will write away their future; YES!! The admit cards. The examination authority have listed that right after the successful registration and payment of the requisite fee through Bank, candidates will be able to download and print admit cards for JEE (Advanced)-2014 from May 11 to May 24, 2014 from the JEE (Advanced)-2014 portal.

In case of any inconsistency, candidates are required to bring the matter into the address of the Chairman, JEE (Advanced) of the Zonal IIT immediately, which should not be later than May 22, 2014. Moreover, in case the admit card is not available in the JEE (Advanced) website, candidates should be contacting the Zonal IIT through Phone/Email/Fax immediately, but not later than May 22, 2014.
